改编自巴尔扎克的半自传同名小说，《人间喜剧》里比较有价值的作品之一，只节选了青年诗人Lucien的部分，最让人惊讶的是这个描写在十九世纪法国巴黎党派倾轧、文坛腐败的恶劣风气下人性迷失理想破灭的故事，到今天仍然具有普世意义，“文学滋养幻想”，浮华资本又使其最终幻灭。电影本身旁白过多破坏了一些文学性，主角的颜值都很高，好久不见泽维尔·多兰演戏了。
